Fitting Guide

Introduction

Helmet sizing is very simple. Just follow our guide below and you will soon be looking great and protecting your most important asset.

In most cases, your helmet will fit if you get the right size, but there are circumstances where the helmet will not fit due to the shape of the helmet and the shape of your head. In cases like this, just send it back to us, undamaged and in its original packaging and we will ship you a new one or give you your money back .

Don’t forget the kids! It is very important to not add too much to account for growth. A helmet that is too loose is not going to be as safe as one that fits well. Kids heads grow relatively slowly so get one that fits. The only time you may want to bump up a size is if their head is right in-between sizes. Then you can select the larger size. Many of our helmets have fitting kits included.

Skiing and Snowboarding Helmet Safety Standards

All of our Ski Helmets carry a CE, ASTM or Snell RS-98 certification. ASTM standards have been determined by a battery of tests on helmet models, including testing the strength of a helmets retention system under simulated hot, cold and wet conditions. Helmets undergo tests of multiple impacts and velocity forces against various sections of the helmet to determine performance in skiing accidents.

Helmet Trends

Helmet manufacturers are realising the increasing desire for skiers and snowboarders to protect their heads! The latest styles are looking great and offer the best protection yet. They are becoming lighter, more durable and more fashionable, so make sure you keep a lid on it!

How to Fit a Helmet

The most important thing when buying a helmet is that it fits properly on your head. A well fitting helmet will be comfortable, offer the maximum protection and performance, and of course it will look great.

1.       Measuring Tape. Your helmet size is determined by the circumference of your head and is measured by wrapping a tape measure around your head, just above your eyebrows and ears.

2.       Putting on Helmet. Align the front of the helmet above your eyebrows. Hold both straps and roll the helmet over the back of your head until the helmet fits well.

3.       Check for Gaps. Make sure there are no unwanted gaps between the helmet lining and your head. In addition, make sure the back of the helmet does not touch the back of your neck.

4.       Roll Test.  With the chin-strap fastened, the helmet should fit snug and comfortable. Try to roll the helmet off your head. If the skin on your forehead moves, you have a good fit.

Please note that the producers of helmets all have different ideas on the shape of a human head.  If your helmet does not fit properly it might be that the shape of the helmet does not fit your particular head shape. In that case, return it unused and in it’s original packaging and we will change it or give you your money back.
